Adolescent Psychological Problems and Their Relation-ships with Suicidal Behavior

This study investigated the psychological problems and their relationship with suicidal behavior in adolescents. Psychological problems are measured by GHQ-12. Suicidal behavior was measured as current suicidal ideation, suicidal ideation within the past-twelve months and suicidal attempts within the past-twelve months. Participants of the study were 422 (XA4) male and 537 (%56) female (N=959) high school students. %61.5 of the students scored above the cut-ojf point of 2 on GHQ-12. There were more girls than boys among those who scored above the cut-off point. Students who thought and those who attempted to kill themselves scored higher than those who did not think and attempt to kill themselves on the GHQ-12. Three regression analyses were carried out in order to find out which of the GHQ items predict the suicidal thoughts and attempts. According to the results of these analyses "being unable to sleep due to worries" appeared as an independent predictor of suicidal thoughts and attempts. Results from the study were discussed by comparing them with findings from other investigations using the GHQ- 12.

Ergen Ruh Sağlığı Sorunları ve intihar Davranışıyla İlişkileri^

Bu çalışma ergenler arasındaki ruhsal sorunlar ve hu sorunların intihar düşüncesi ve girişimleriyle olası ilişkileri inceledi. Ruhsal sorunlar 12 maddelik Genel Sağlık Anketi (GSA-12) kullanılarak ölçüldü. İntihar düşüncesi hali hazırdaki ve geçtiğimiz son onild ay içerisindeki düşünceler, ve intihar girişimi de geçtiğimiz son onild ay içerisindeki girişimler olarak ölçüldü. Araştırmaya 422'si erkek (%44), 537'si kız (%56) olmak üzere toplam 959 lise öğrencisi katıldı. Örneklemin %61.5'i GSA-12'de vaka kesim noktası puanı olarak kabul edilen 2 ve üzerinde bir puan aldı. İki ve üzerinde puan alanlar arasında kızlar çoğunluktaydı. İntihar ederek kendini öldürmeyi düşünen ve öldürmek için girişimde bulunan öğrencilerin GSA puanlarının düşünmeyen ve girişimde bulunmayanlardan daha yüksek olduğu bulundu. İntihar düşünceleri ve girişimlerini bağımsız bir şekilde yordayan GSA maddesi(leri)ni saptamak için biri lojistik olmak üzere üç ayrı regresyon analizi gerçekleştirildi. Yapılan analizler sonucu endişeler yüzünden uykusuzluk çekmenin intihar düşünceleri ve girişimlerini yordayan ortak bir sorun olduğu saptandı. Bu çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular GSA'yı kullanarak yapılan diğer araştırmalardan sağlanan bulgularla karşılaştırılarak tartışıldı.
